Savanna Lee Mahaffey of Iowa, LA and Adam Matthew Carter of Natchitoches announce their engagement and approaching marriage at 4 p.m. on August 2, 2008 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Natchitoches

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Stuart Bryan and Cara Hebert Mahaffey of Lacassine, Louisiana. Her grandparents are Jerry and Maggie Hebert of LeBleu Settlement, LA and James "Mac" and Linda Mahaffey of Iowa, LA.

Savanna is a 2004 graduate of Lacassine High School and a 2008 graduate of Northwestern State University with a bachelor's degree in English Education. She is employed in the Jefferson Parish School System in Marrero, LA as an English Teacher.

The groom-elect is the son of "Sonny" Newton Carter and Kathy Carter of Natchitoches His grandparents are  Jim and Carol Brunsgaard of Natchitoches and the late Newton B. and Edna Webb Carter of Shreveport.

Adam is a graduate of Natchitoches Central High School and a 2007 graduate of Northwestern State University with a bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management. He is employed at The New Orleans Marriott Hotel in New Orleans as the Restaurant and Lounge Assistant Manager.

The wedding will be Officiated by Right Rev'd Joe Morris Doss (Godfather to the groom) and Rev'd Catherine Thompson.
