Just a few months after he began playing bass guitar, my 14 year old son Eric made his debut at an open mike at "The Tin Cup Cafe."  Eric started his set with a solo cover of Green Days' Brain Stew, then backed by Joe Calabria, a cover of  Foo Fighter's Times Like These,  and an original song, Puppy Love.   

Eric said  "I was scared at first, but it only took a few moments until I was into the music."  His parting shot to the audience was "I'm Eric Carter, and this has been  MTV Plugged!" 

The Tin House Barbecue and Cane River Coffee Roasters sponsor the open mike, and it looks like it may become a regular thing.
